Spending most of his time on the road - performing, recording and teaching workshops all over Europe and the U.S. - Belgian jazz guitarist Jeanfrançois Prins resides in Berlin and New York City. He is back @ the A Trane to share his passion for modern jazz with a heart, and pay tribute to two of the musicians who have had a great influence on his music: Thelonious Monk and Wayne Shorter. Since his first recording as a leader (N.Y. Stories, 1991), long before it was fashionable, Jeanfrançois Prins regularly recorded and played many of their compositions. In his own poetic and passionate way, he will interpret their music and his own, in a mix ranging from romantic to hard-swinging. This Prins Berlin Trio features Paul Kleber on bass and Sebastian Merk on drums, both leading members of the young German jazz scene. |
